International Usage of Prepaid Mobile Fail and Americanization

Photo of an airport from the plane

Well so far this trip is turning out well. I managed to catch about a 30 min nap before my quiet area was invaded with people. Also it turns out that T-Mobile is whack and although there's service here in Chile (and Paraguay for that matter) they won't let me use it since its a prepaid sim.

Also this airport is boring. There's too many American eateries and stores and it's surprisingly small. I didn't sit on a plane for 12hrs to get a Dunkichino or a Tall nonfat latte. I do wonder if Jordan's flight got delayed - supposedly there were a lot of delays yesterday afternoon in NY cause of a storm and here the fog is so thick you can't see more then 50 yards outside the windows.

Update 8:50am
I'm so bored I actually started responding to work e-mails. Still debating whether or not to wait til Paraguay to pick up a new sim card for the phone. I could get one here with a Chile number and just roam it up in Paraguay - I guess it doesn't matter either way since all I need is texting and phoning the states.

Also considering that this is a pretty legit airport the fact that there are no power outlets anywhere scares me. I finally found a random, ghetto one that is falling apart and it scares me to know my little pirate Mac is at risk of damage from this random source of juice
