Happy New Year from London (Again!)

We started out new year's without much thought on where to go or what to do so we started with sleeping in then taking the bus down to Buckingham Palace.

It was, of course, packed with tourists. It took me nearly 3 minutes to get the above photo without someone walking into the shot. Still the Palace was amazing and gigantic. Having not seen it up close before I was glad we did it.

Next we went on a quest for the number one fish and chips shop in London. The only problem is when we finally got there it was closed for the afternoon, not reopening until six which was far too late for us. We walked toward our bus home and found a fish monger slash fancy restaurant. I had grilled London river fish and EJ got the fish and chips. He said that it was exactly what he was looking for in this trip.

Back in the hostel we took a quick rest since the room lights were off and then started to get ready for our pub crawl in the dark. Our Australian ginger roommate from Perth came in and said just turn on the lights and did. We got ready then took the long walk down to the first bar on the crawl. I was unsure if it was worth it or not but by the time we got to the second to last bar was glad we did it. I met a lot of cool people.

Instead of going to the final bar on the crawl, a club playing an indie rock concert, I stopped off at our hostel and ended up ringing in the new year there with a ton of people including ginger Perth which was nice. I was glad the bar filled up having seen it empty all week I wasn't sure what to expect.

Things finally started to die down around 5am and I went to bed where all my roommates (including EJ) were already fast asleep. A few hours later I awoke feeling fine. We spent Day 6 relaxing in bed and I did my laundry. Danielle invited us over to Andy's flat to hang out but it was already getting late (around 8pm) and we had to be up at 4am to catch our flight. So instead we packed up and got ready to continue our journey.
